Flashing on the screen they showed the breaking news
Families in shelters others donating clothes and food
Houses are burning in these multi-million towns
A bright sight, a loud sound, in smoke the west coast has drowned
California’s burning, they saw smoke from satellites
California’s burning, flames replace street lights
Addresses are now ashes
Memories gone you can’t replace
California’s burning, fire proved its fate
There were firemen up in airplanes, firemen on the ground
Some were using hoses, others evacuating towns
The wind would not stop blowing, no they could not get ahead
Oh those flames could not be contained, so they roared on instead
California’s burning, leaves burnt off the trees
California’s burning, fire ripped through dreams
Addresses are now ashes
Memories gone you can’t replace
California’s burning, fire proved its fate
As for the cause of this tragedy, arson it remains
This fire was on purpose you see, nature was not to blame
Its hard to believe someone lit their neighbors home
They used gasoline & so it seems karma should light their own
California’s burning, leaves burnt off their trees
California’s burning, fire ripped through dreams
Addresses are now ashes
Memories gone you can’t replace
California’s burning, fire proved its fate
